Toyota Shareathon wants you to Tweet
To begin this week, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. launched Shareathon, a program that integrates social media with new leases or purchases during the year’s Toyotathon.
“This year Shareathon not only rewards shoppers for tweeting about their plans for a new Toyota, but is also a fun and unique way for us to engage their friends and followers,” said Kimberley Gardiner, national digital marketing and social media manager for Toyota in a released statement. “Last year’s Shareathon was such a huge success that we decided to add an incremental element to expand the social footprint and impact of the program.”
Starting Dec. 12 and running through Dec. 21, shoppers need to register online at www.toyota.com/shareathon, tweet a scripted Shareathon message and then purchase or lease a new vehicle on or before Jan. 3 2012 to be eligible for a redeemable $500 prepaid debit card. Participants then have two days (48 hours) to spur their followers to retweet the message for additional cash on the card. To sweeten the deal for retweets, those followers will be entered to win a 2011 Prius from Toyota.
At 11 a.m. for the duration of Shareathon certificates will be available for the first 140 people to register at the site and tweet about their plans for a new Toyota during the Toyotathon. After the new vehicle purchase the unique coupon code and VIN are needed to receive the debit card. The last day for redemption is Jan. 31, 2012.
The Shareathon site will use interactive tracking of the tweets so users can track their tweets and retweets. Check out www.toyota.com/shareathon for more info, or watch this video.
